You are walking on a road by yourself on a warm sunny day and you hear someone playing your favorite song, You suddenly feel lightened up and feel all happy for the moment. You may start muttering the song lyrics and start to move around to the tune or maybe you would go for an awesome air guitar session or a drum solo only to realize later you are in a crowd! Now that is just one of the many capabilities of music.
Music has been around for ages. There are
instances of flutes that are often discovered, made from bones with holes been
pierced laterally implying to the prehistoric era. India has one of the oldest
music traditions. However, the earliest and the largest collection of musical
instruments have been found in China. However, the advancement in the lifestyle
and technology later resulted in the revolution or music giving us Legends
Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, etc. and their music is still being used.
The 20th
century gave us many famous musicians and singers who still are appreciated
greatly. Coming to 21st century, We sure have plenty of genres of Music ranging
from Classical to rap, pop to metal and many many more. So indeed we have
plenty of "artists" and "musicians" with their famous
"music" in the "music industry" today. Not implying that
there aren't good musicians in the 21st century, but you certainly know what
i mean, specially for those who grow up in that era. Music is more like a
competition today and "musicians" seem like competitors. Nope, still
not trying to point out any musicians of this generation.
On the brighter side, you know the music is
pretty good when it gives you the vibes, the goosebumps! Music is one way one
can convey their emotions. There are all sort of music to display sorrow,
happiness, energy, aggressiveness, peace etc. On the same track, if you listen
to a good song, you would start to feel happy and similarly feel sad whilst
listening to a sad songs. Also, music can remind you of a person important to
you, or a certain place or experience. Music also increases the potentiality of
a moment or scene from a movie you are watching. For example, the "nants
ingoyama bagithi si baba " from Lion king in the very beginning of the
movie or the very famous jaws theme when the shark is approaching the victim
filling you up with thrill.
The ending theme from the movie Gladiator would
make you sad and happy at the very same time. Also when some dramatic music
plays, you know things are going to get serious. There are just so many
instances! One might wish for music to start playing in the background when we
face similar situation in real life. For example, when you are in a school or
college and teacher calls you name, everyone turns their head at you. I hope
the "dramatic chipmunk" (refer YouTube if you don't know about it)
dun dun duuuuuuun plays in your head. It just would make the situation more
fun!
Also, i reckon you learn to play at least
one musical instrument in your life. You can kill time in your own way or maybe
you might have the potentiality of a great musician! Who knows??
So rejuvenate yourself by listening to some
good music and keep Rocking!
